Clutch and Brake Master Cylinder Seal

Anglia New "Anglia" Range

A seal with increased durability and a greater resistance to seepage is now fitted to master cylinders in production from approximately vehicle numbers

D22B 180053 Doncaster produced

H22C 019418 Halewood produced

This current seal, Part No 100E-2173-B is identified by a chamfer on the edge of the sealing lip. It is directly interchangeable with the former seal, Part No 100E-2173-A, which has no chamfer.

Master cylinders that have the current seal incorporated can be identified by a letter “S” stamped after the manufacturers’ date stamp, located on the machined mounting face, which bolts to the engine bulkhead.

If a persistent seepage of hydraulic fluid occurs from a clutch or brake master cylinder then a seal of the current type should be fitted, The current seal is incorporated in master cylinder repair kits and master cylinders available through service. The former seal will no longer be available as a service item.
