The Ford Anglia Estate is on display at the Haynes Motor Museum in the UK,
and has the following Information Plaque displayed next to it.

Purchased by David Steel (now Lord Steel of
Aikwood) from a local garage his intention was
to compete with it in the Trans Africa Rally.
After preparing the car the Rally was cancelled
so instead he entered the 1992 Monte Carlo Challenge in the modified class, which he completed.

Its next trip out was in the 1997 Peking to Paris Rally in the hands of its new owner Nigel Broderick who extensively modified the car for the gruelling 10,000 mile trip.

The engine was uprated to a 1600cc crossflow coupled to a Cosworth 5 speed box. The rear axle is standard but with Quaiffe fully floating shafts. The Anglia finished the event winning
the 2 Litre class, 3rd in the classics and 6th overall, a commendable effort.
Since its return to the UK it has raised many thousands of pounds for children's charities.
