Site Visitor Gerry Taylor
has sent me some photo's of the Ford Anglia's he
used to race.
Gerry says "I used to
race Anglias in the 1970s, and had many variants
of the car, engine wise. I began with a Trevor
Taylor car in 1966. Then I built a 1650cc which
was fairly competitive, then WRA (George
Whitehead) built me a 1760cc unit and I put that
under another Anglia, and that was successful
too. But THE most successful car was the one I
raced 1971 thru 75, that was the car sponsored by
SWISH. With this car I held many class lap
records, Silverstone 1m.8secs. Mallory Park
53secs. also the short circuit at 29secs.
Longridge, near Preston.
The first
photo is the first Anglia built by Trevor Taylor
in 1966 at The Hairpin at Mallory (note no
advertising on the cars in those days!)
The second
is me leading the BDA engined Anglia of Richard
Long at the Devils Elbow at Mallory Park, and the
last is a nice shot taken at Silverstone"
