Heater Control Knobs

anglia New "Anglia" Saloon (1959 onwards) and Estate Cars

As an additional precaution against the possibility of the heater control knob securing screw becoming loose, a small quantity of jointing compound, Part No EM-4G-52, is now used on the thread of each screw in production. It is suggested that a similar practice be adopted in service if the above condition is experienced, or if at any time a screw is replaced.

To obtain the best results from this jointing compound the following precautions must be taken :-

1. All traces of grease, oil and dirt must be removed from the screws and the threaded holes into which they fit and therefore they should be cleaned thoroughly with trichlorethylene or any other suitable cleaning solvent and allowed to dry before applying the sealer.

2. A thin line of sealer along the threads of each screw will be sufficient to obtain a firm fixing. No advantage will be gained by applying a greater quantity - it will merely increase the "setting" time and make the screws more difficult to remove.

3. Fit the screws immediately the sealer has been applied.
