The Monte Carlo Rally of 1965 saw cars starting
from the following cities. Warsaw, Stockholm,
Minsk, London, Frankfurt, Paris, Lisbon, Athens
and Monte Carlo.
There
were no "Works" Ford Anglia's competing
in the Rally, but there were two privateer cars.
One Ford Anglia belonging to Sydney Allard who
campaigned an Allardette again this year, and a
second Ford Anglia being driven by William
Robson. Both Anglia's started from London and
both failed to finish the Rally.
Of
the 237 competitors that started out for Monte
Carlo only 35 actually finished the Rally. Heavy
snow throughout Europe was the main cause for so
many cars failing to finish.
The
Rally was ultimately won by Timo Makinen / Paul
Easter in a Mini Cooper S (Car No 52)
The Coupe des Dames (Ladies Cup) was won by Pat
Moss-Carlsson / Elizbeth Nyström in a Saab 96 -
Reg No PA12570 (Car No 49), who finished 3rd
overall in the Rally.
